What you can check yourself
0 / 4 checked
- Find your model and serial number on the sticker inside the door frame — LG's own code list is the most reliable reference for your specific washer.
- For OE (drain), check the drain hose isn't kinked, clogged, or pushed in too far at the standpipe, and clean the drain pump filter if your model has an accessible one.
- For IE (water supply), confirm both hot and cold valves are fully open and the inlet screens inside the hose connections aren't clogged.
- For UE (unbalanced load), stop the cycle, redistribute laundry evenly, and restart — this is rarely a hardware problem.
Still not working? A technician can take it from here.
Book a visitWhen to call a technician
Call a technician for CE (motor over-current), a dE code that persists with nothing blocking the door, or LE (motor overloaded/locked) that returns after a reset.
What's different about LG's code system
LG keeps its washer codes short — two letters rather than Samsung's longer alphanumeric strings — and they tend to map more directly to one specific system. That makes LG codes slightly easier to use as a starting point, though the underlying causes often overlap with what you'd see on any front-load washer.
A note on Tub Clean (tCL)
tCL isn't a fault — it's a maintenance reminder telling you it's time to run the washer's Tub Clean cycle, usually with an affresh-style cleaning tablet. Ignoring it for a long time can contribute to the odor and residue buildup that eventually shows up as real performance problems.
A note on this brand's codes: LG's own support page lists FE, PE and tE without a detailed public explanation — if you see one of those, treat it as a signal to call rather than guess, since LG doesn't publish what it covers.
