Oven Not Heating or Heating Unevenly

  1. On a gas oven, watch the igniter glow when you turn the oven on
  2. On an electric oven, look at the bake element when heating
  3. Check the door seal around the oven door for gaps or damage
  4. Test actual oven temperature with a separate oven thermometer rather than trusting the display

Repair or replace?

Most ovens and ranges last 13 to 15 years. Igniter, element and control-board repairs are usually worth it throughout that range. Once a unit needs a new main control board near the end of its expected life, replacement is often the better value — ask your technician to walk you through the comparison.

Maintenance tips

  • Clean spilled food promptly — burnt-on residue can affect oven temperature sensors and igniters over time.
  • Check gas burner ports for clogs if a burner clicks but won't light; a toothpick or soft brush usually clears them.
  • Avoid the self-clean cycle on an older oven if the door latch or control board is already acting up — the high heat can push a marginal part over the edge.
  • Keep the area around the oven's cooling fan vents clear so electronics stay at a safe temperature.

A local note

Many Westside and coastal Orange County kitchens run premium built-in wall ovens and cooktops (Thermador, Wolf, Viking, Miele); those are serviceable the same way as mainstream brands, just with different part lead times — we'll tell you upfront if a part has to be special-ordered.

FAQ

Questions people ask before booking.

Still unsure? Call or text and we'll tell you straight.

(424) 296-8985

How much does an oven service call cost?

The diagnostic visit is $89. If you approve the repair, that amount comes off the final bill. You'll see the full quote before any work starts.

I smell gas near my oven — is that an emergency?

Yes. Turn off the gas supply, ventilate the room, and call us immediately rather than booking online.

Is it worth repairing my oven, or should I replace it?

We'll tell you straight. As a rule, if the repair costs more than half the price of a comparable new unit and the oven is over 10 years old, replacing usually makes more sense. Built-in and professional-style ranges are almost always worth repairing.

What does the warranty cover?

Our labor is guaranteed for 90 days: if the same problem comes back in that window, we come back at no charge. Parts we install carry a 1-year warranty against failures not caused by the customer.

Do you repair built-in and commercial ranges?

Yes. We service built-in double ovens, professional-style ranges, and commercial kitchen equipment.

¿Hablan español?

Sí. Llámenos o envíenos un mensaje de texto y le atenderemos en español.

What does a GE oven F2 or F3 code mean?

F2 usually means the oven temperature exceeded a safe threshold; F3 usually points to a faulty oven temperature sensor. See our GE oven error code page for more — and if you smell gas, leave the home and call 911 and SoCalGas before calling us.

Do you repair built-in wall ovens as well as ranges?

Yes, including single and double wall ovens, slide-in and freestanding ranges, and separate cooktops.
